Talks at the Labour Relations Commission (LRC) between the IMO and Health Service Executive (HSE) have been adjourned until Monday.
Hospitals across the State are facing serious disruption after junior doctors voted in favour of industrial action.
Some 99 per cent of Non Consultant Hospital Doctors (NCHDs) voted in support of action, up to and including an all-out strike, if talks over training rosters collapse.
The doctors are being represented by the IMO at LRC talks, which began last Monday.
IMO vice president Dr John Morris claimed attempts to impose rosters irrespective of the consequences for patient care and safety or the training needs of junior doctors was driven by HSE cost-cutting measures.
The HSE is seeking to reduce overtime payments, abolish a paid meal break and to discontinue a number of allowances and grants for non-consultant hospital doctors.
