About £3 million has been paid for a pub in Limerick. A local hotelier, Mr Brendan Dunne, has bought the well-known Patrick Punch's pub at Punch's Cross.

Bidding at the auction of the 140-year-old bars and restaurant complex went to £1.6 million before the property was withdrawn. Later private bidding went to £2.8 million before Mr Dunne agreed a deal with Dublin auctioneer, Mr John Young.
