The Loretta Bloom clothing manufacturer in Limerick city is to cease trading this year with the loss of 46 jobs.

The closure was confirmed this afternoon by managing director Mr Anthony Hartigan, who said the factory would remain in operation until July of this year. He cited a combination of high costs and a downturn in trade as the reason for its closure.

Loretta Bloom Limited on Dominick Street, has been in business since 1982. The factory supplies mid to upper range priced ladies jackets, blouses, skirts and outerwear to boutiques mostly in Britian and Ireland.
