Up to 60 members of staff at the Department of Justice hope to be back in their offices this morning after having to evacuate them last Tuesday because of a leak in the heating system.

The entire press section along with other offices at 94 St Stephen’s Green, Dublin, had to be abandoned last Tuesday morning because of what was described as “flooding” that had occurred overnight.

The Office of Public Works said this weekend the heating system had “leaked” and between 50 and 60 members of staff relocated temporarily to nearby offices, also belonging to the department.

Safety checks on the electrical system were carried out last week under the supervision of the OPW.
