A man jailed for more than six years on firearms charges had his sentenced reduced to four by the Court of Criminal Appeal yesterday. Paul Shaun Mullen (37), North Circular Road, Dublin, was jailed for 6 3/4 years in July 1996 after he was convicted for possessing firearms on December 22nd, 1994.i stopped a car driven by Mullen at Rock Road, Blanchardstown, on that date.

Mr Felix McEnroy, for Mullen, yesterday asked the Court of Criminal Appeal to reduce the sentence. He said Mullen had signed admissions and made a sincere guilty plea, and his offence was on the lower scale regarding possession offences. Mr Justice Barron said the court would reduce the sentence to four years.
