An Irishman was found murdered and robbed in his hotel bedroom in Madras, India, at the weekend

An Irishman was found murdered and robbed in his hotel bedroom in Madras, India, at the weekend. Mr John Cashin (45), from Mooncoin in Kilkenny, was identified by a letter addressed to Sister Loreto Houlihan, a Presentation nun from Carrick-on-Suir who has been living in India for 50 years.

The dead man also had a video of Sister Loreto's family and neighbours in Carrick and a cake for her.

A man has been detained for questioning by police.
