An Irish peace activist arrested by Israelis forces after the end of the Church of the Nativity seige in Bethlehem is to be deported today.
Ms Mary Kelly had been on hunger strike since she was detained, along with nine foreign activists, after the Israeli army lifted its siege last Friday.
Ms Kelly was being held at a low-security women's prison called Naveh Kirfeh in Ramleh. She will be deported at 4 p.m. Israeli time when she boards a plane to London. She is not expected to arrive in Ireland until the end of the week.
Israel laid siege to the church in an offensive in the West Bank town. The seige lasted five weeks.
The Irish Government has agreed to accept one of the 13 Palestinian militants Israel allowed to go into exile after the siege ended.
Ireland was one of six EU member states to agree yesterday to accept the men, who were flown to Cyprus last week.
The fighters, who are described by Israel as dangerous terrorists, are expected to leave Cyprus at the end of this week, after arrangements are agreed by EU ambassadors.
