The jury in the trial of a man who denies charges in relation to a lorry hijack and robbery has been discharged as a result of a High Court order. In a hearing conducted through Irish, Ms Justice McGuinness prohibited the trial in Dublin Circuit Criminal Court until a satisfactory recording system was provided by the State.

Mr Ruairi Mac Carthaigh (48), of Springfield Estate, Tallaght, had pleaded not guilty to hijacking a lorry and stealing chocolates and sweets valued at £11,252 at Swords Road, Dublin, on May 28th, 1990.
