Iraq has no weapons of mass destruction, the head of Iraq's weapons monitoring body said today a few hours before he was to hand over to the United Nations a document detailing Baghdad's arms programmes.
"We declared that Iraq is empty of weapons of mass destruction. I reiterate Iraq has no weapons of mass destruction. This declaration has some activities that are dual-use," Mr Hussam Mohammed Amin, head of the Iraqi National Monitoring Directorate told a news conference.
He said the documents would be handed over in the next few hours to UN weapons inspectors in Baghdad. He gave no further details. Mr Amin addressed the press conference after journalists were shown thousands of pages of documents on Iraq's arms programmes.
