The IRA has used its annual Easter message to tell grassroots supporters it was not possible to give a definitive comment on the peace process negotiations.

The message released last night and due to appear in today's An Phoblachtsaid: "We ask people to remain patient. We know that republicans will understand the sensitivities of the current situation.

"We will speak for ourselves at the appropriate time. This is a period for republicans to remain resolute," added the statement, signed "P. O'Neill".
