An investigation into a hand injury suffered by Clare's Gerry Quinn in the All-Ireland hurling semi-final against Waterford has proved inconclusive.

Inquiries by the Games Administration Committee (GAC) did confirm the injury was sustained in an off-the-ball incident and due to an infringement by a Waterford player.

But the absence of video evidence and what the GAC said was a lack of co-operation by both counties in question has made it impossible to resolve the matter.

Quinn and the Clare County Board have refused to reveal the identity of the player, and the Waterford camp has remained equally tight-lipped.

The GAC said:"The committee feels obliged to express its concern at the lack of co-operation from both Clare and Waterford in its efforts to deal with this unsavoury incident and is concerned about the issues it raises in relation to player protection".
