GARDAÍ HAVE released CCTV images of a number of men who may have witnessed an attack earlier this year during which the victim suffered broken bones in his neck and paralysis.

The assault took place at the junction of Anglesea Street and College Green in Dublin’s south inner city at 4am on Sunday, February 20th.

The images, taken in the area of the assault, show five men gardaí say may be able to help with the investigation, which is being conducted from Pearse Street Garda station.

The injured man, a 22 year old from Dublin, suffered a broken bone in his neck and facial injuries, including a broken nose. He was taken from the scene of the assault by ambulance to St James’s Hospital. He was initially partially paralysed but he is making a good recovery.

A Garda investigation has been under way to try and identify the men involved in the attack. Gardaí have now taken the unusual step of releasing the images to try and advance their investigation. The images were taken from CCTV cameras in shops close to the crime scene.

In an unrelated case, a French man who was assaulted in Temple Bar two weeks ago, sustaining serious head injuries, is beginning to recover. Guillane Osterstock (26) was punched in an attack early last Sunday week. A man has been before the courts in relation to the attack.
