Notice of a one-day stoppage has been served on the Bank of Ireland by the Irish Bank Officials' Association (IBOA).

A one-day strike at the bank's information technology subsidiary over plans to outsource its IT functions is planned for July 23rd.

The dispute is over plans to transfer the bank's IT services to Hewlett Packard which have left 300 staff concerned about future job security.

The IBOA General Secretary, Mr Larry Broderick has insisted that the main Bank of Ireland operation will not be affected by the stoppage although there are fears that Bank of Ireland ATM machines will not function properly.

Bank of Ireland group is holding its AGM later today.
