A historic part of Cork city centre has been transformed into a craft village that is expected to attract more than 50,000 visitors.

The third annual Cork Craft Month, which runs until September 9th, involves more than 200 craft workers showcasing everything from ceramics to millinery.

The festival, on Cornmarket Street, is run by Cork Craft and Design, a volunteer group set up by craftspeople to promote the industry. It is supported by Cork city and county councils, the county and city Enterprise Boards, Fáilte Ireland and the Crafts Council.

Cork Craft and Design chairman Fergal O’Leary said: “We have cutting-edge designers right here in Cork producing pieces worn on the world stage by stars such Florence Welch and KT Tunstall.”
