Ireland must use its strong presence in Europe to insist eastern European countries are given membership of the European Union quickly, a former government minister said yesterday.
Ms Gemma Hussey, director of the European Women's Foundation and former minister for education, said it was time Ireland helped eastern Europe imitate Ireland's success.
