An egg producer was awarded compensation yesterday after his hens stopped laying because they were frightened by low flying British army helicopters.

Mr Daniel Keenan, of Drum Road, Cookstown, Co Tyrone, sued the Ministry of Defence in the High Court in Belfast for lost production over two years. He claimed low flying helicopters made his hens so anxious that it interfered with egg production.
