But it was was hurt by a downturn in food service sales following the September 11th attacks, when fewer people dined out, and also by higher supply chain costs.

The Pittsburgh-based company said it had net income of $208.2 million in the period ended October 31st, compared with $190 million a year earlier.

Revenue in the period rose 12 per cent to $2.57 billion.
