New Delhi - The southern city of Hyderabad has recorded its hottest day since 1935, officials said yesterday as the two-week heat wave claimed at least 21 more lives in India, pushing the toll past 180.
The Press Trust of India quoted officials as saying that at least 20 more people had died in the eastern coastal state of Orissa while 100 others were being treated in hospital for sunstroke. Temperatures in Hyderabad, the capital of Andhra Pradesh, rose to 44.4 C on Tuesday for the first time since May 28th, 1935.
