The South Eastern Health Board has again advised the public not to eat bivalve shellfish such as oysters, mussels, clams and scallops harvested from Waterford Estuary because of the risk of diarrhetic shellfish poisoning. The warning follows others related to the same area issued earlier this year and applies to shellfish harvested since March 23rd. Cooking does not destroy toxins found in the shellfish.
