Two men were robbed at gunpoint as they carried the takings from a pub to a bank machine in the early hours of this morning.

The victims, staff members at a licensed premises in Malahide, north Dublin, were in a car when the lone gunman held them up.

He then forced the men out of the car, took the cash and vehicle, and fled the scene.

The armed robbery happened at 2.30am on St Margaret's Avenue.

The car was located around an hour later off the back road in to the town.

A garda spokesman said investigations are continuing and appealed for anyone in the area at the time to contact them.
