Copenhagen - A Danish schoolgirl, working on a class study of 19th century fairytale writer, Hans Christian Andersen, has unearthed a hitherto unknown poem by the author, the Ritzau news agency reported yesterday.

The work, written in 1836 and titled To Frederik's Mother, was a poem of condolence on the death of a 13-year-old boy. It was written to a great-grandmother of the schoolgirl following a visit by Andersen.
