Gardaí investigate attempted robbery

An investigation is underway into an attempted robbery of a bookmakers in Dublin yesterday.

An investigation is underway into an attempted robbery of a bookmakers in Dublin yesterday.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which took place at Littlepace, Clonee, Dublin 15 at about 3.15pm, when a man entered the Ladbrokes shop and held up staff with a suspected firearm.

The man was confronted by an off-duty Garda, who disarmed him before the the man escaped on foot empty handed. He is described as aged between 18 and 26 years, about 5 foot 11 inches in height, of slim build with short light brown hair.

He was wearing a grey coloured chequered hooded top, navy blue tracksuit bottoms and white running
shoes.
