Gardaí arrested a man and were searching for a second after a firearm and a quantity of money were seized in Co Kildare.
Members of the organised crime unit stopped two cars near Ballymore Eustace as part of an intelligence-led operation targeting a criminal gang. A 30-year-old man was arrested and was yesterday being interviewed at Naas Garda station. He was being held under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
Gardaí fired a number of shots after one of the cars failed to stop. A man who was driving one of the cars escaped.
