Gardaí in west Cork have appealed to the public for assistance following a spate of break-ins, including one where a brother and sister in their 70s were robbed.

Gardaí believe the first of six break-ins by the same gang took place at a house in Kilcoe, outside Skibbereen, last Tuesday morning. Further break-ins took place at Aughadown, Skibbereen and Enniskeane before the three-man gang targeted the home of a 79-year-old man and his 76-year old sister at Ballyregan between Kinsale and Innishannon. The couple returned from collecting their pensions to find three men wearing hoodies ransacking their isolated farmhouse.

The robbers took the man’s coat and the woman’s handbag before making off. Gardaí believe the gang members were driving a silver Volvo.
