Gardaí and locals rescue stranded tourists

Gardaí and local people joined forces in Roundwood, Co Wicklow to go to the rescue of 60 Italian tourists yesterday evening.

Gardaí and local people joined forces in Roundwood, Co Wicklow to go to the rescue of 60 Italian tourists yesterday evening.

The tourists were stranded at the Wicklow Gap when the two buses they were travelling in got stuck in ice and snow which had become frozen.

At around 6 p.m. gardaí were alerted, and with the assistance of several locals in 4X4s, assisted in rescuing the holiday-makers.

The buses were left overnight and are due to be recovered today.
