Gardai in Galway have confirmed that a member of the force, who is under investigation for allegedly assaulting a teenager, is still on duty at Salthill station.
But the senior Garda officer in the resort, Supt Jim Sugrue, said it was normal procedure for a garda to remain working while under investigation.
It is alleged that the assault occurred in the Rahoon area of the city in August last year.
