The GAA were today quick to dispel notions that the use of Croke Park for soccer and rugby games in the future was not a formality.

The GAA president Sean McCague also said the Irish bid for the Euro 2008 soccer tournament, which relies on the use of Croke Park, was flawed because no guarantee has been issued yet to say Croke Park would be made available.

McCague warned of the potentially embarrassing situation facing the FAI considering there is, at present, no genuine alternative venue for the joint Euro 2008 bid with Scotland.

It remains to be seen how this situation can be resolved and how Ireland can still commit to the joint bid.
