A trainee mechanic accused of killing journalist Eugene Moloney has been further remanded in custody pending preparation of the book of evidence. Mr Moloney (55) died last June after an incident in Dublin city centre.

Gary Burch (21), Kennington Close, Templeogue, Dublin, was charged in June with his manslaughter. He made his fourth appearance at Dublin District Court yesterday. Mr Burch, who has not indicated how he will plead to the charge, did not address the court during the brief hearing.

On June 24th, Mr Moloney was making his way home after a night out with friends. He suffered a blow to the head on Camden Street. He was later pronounced dead in hospital.

Yesterday Det Garda Sgt Mark Kelly applied to extend Mr Burch’s remand for four weeks pending the preparation of the book of evidence.
