A former Galway hurler wanted in connection with an alleged egg fraud has consented to his extradition to the United Kingdom. The British authorities had sought the surrender of All-Ireland medal winner and businessman Pearse Piggott over his alleged involvement in a multimillion fraud where eggs from caged hens were passed off to UK consumers as being free-range or organic. At the High Court yesterday, Mr Justice Michael Peart was informed Mr Piggott (48), Ballylennon, Gort, Co Galway, who runs egg distribution firm Pearse Piggott and Sons, was consenting to his surrender.
