Five people have been rescued off Carrauntoohil, Co Kerry, after an overnight operation.
Kerry Mountain Rescue received an alert from gardaí yesterday at 9.30pm that four women and a man had got into difficulties and were stranded on a ridge on the north-east face of the mountain.
At 1am today, rescuers reached the group in what Kerry Mountain Rescue spokesman Tim Murphy said was a "very hazardous area".
The rescue team and the hikers - all medically fine - came off the mountain at 7am.

Mr Murphy noted it was the second callout in three weeks to an incident in the same area. He appealed for people to take adequate precautions when in the mountains, and to check the Kerry Mountain Rescue website for information.
