Fishermen rescued after engine failure

Four fishermen were rescued yesterday following an incident off the Co Clare coast.

Four fishermen were rescued yesterday following an incident off the Co Clare coast.

The Kilrush lifeboat was alerted to a fishing boat drifting without power close to the mouth of the Shannon estuary.

There were two men and two teenage boys on board the 26ft vessel which lost power and steering after suffering engine problems. The boat’s skipper raised

the alarm at about 1.40pm. The stricken boat was towed to Kilrush.
