Several fire brigade units were called to the Powerscourt Estate in Wicklow last night to deal with a fire in a hay barn.
Three units from the Bray and Greystones fire stations were sent to the scene after the alarm was raised at about 9.30pm.
The units remained at the estate until shortly after 4am this morning when the scene was made safe.
The hay bar suffered serious damage. While a number of machines were inside at the time, no major damage was done to them. However, a large quantity of stored hay was destroyed. There were no injuries reported.
A Garda spokesman today said that the scene remains under technical examination. The cause of the fire has not yet been established.
