Gardaí are preparing a file for the Director of Public Prosecutions after interviewing a student in relation to a Halloween incident which has left a 21-year-old man fighting for his life with serious burns.

Matty Sheridan (21) from Cabinteely in Dublin remains in a critical condition in hospital after his homemade fancy dress outfit burst into flames at a nightclub in Galway.

CCTV footage has been examined by gardaí who have also interviewed staff and management at the popular nightclub which is a regular venue for students.

Mr Sheridan was taken to University Hospital Galway following the incident before being transferred to the national burns unit at St James’s Hospital in Dublin.
