Fianna Fáil has contacted its solicitors after a London-based racist website included a link to the party’s website on its pages.
In a statement today Fianna Fáil said it was "appalled by this and the matter was now in the hands of their solicitors" who have been instructed to use every means legally "to ensure this action will be stopped".
But this evening the link was still present on the ‘National Socialists Are Us’ site.
Meanwhile the Garda have confirmed the National Bureau of Criminal Investigations is currently carrying out a number of separate investigations on various websites, which have come to its attention. However a garda spokesman said there could be no further comment while these investigations were ongoing.
Fine Gael also instructed its solicitors to contact the website’s owners after links to the party were found there. A spokeswoman said the link was subsequently removed and the solicitors were keeping an eye on the situation.
She told ireland.com that the matter was brought to their attention about three weeks ago and letters were sent to fax numbers and email address in England and Utah under which the website appeared to have been registered. She said the links were later removed.
The website is entitled Say No To A Black Ireland and alleges that Ireland is "under attack. Savages stalk the land. A Parasitical invader raping and pillaging their way across sacred Ireland".
There are still links on the site to the FCA, various third level institutions and the Irish Defence Forces as of this evening.
