A man in his 60s was drowned while attempting to rescue his daughter yesterday evening off the coast at Mulroy Bay near Downings, Co Donegal. His name has not yet been released.

The woman was on board a dinghy which overturned about 5.25 p.m. It appears her father suffered a heart attack as he tried to reach her.

The woman managed to reach the shore and was taken by helicopter to Letterkenny General Hospital for treatment for hypothermia.
