Fire crews at Bray Head leave scene of gorse fire after battling blaze for almost 19 hours

Two people have been taken to hospital after a fire at a caravan site in Co Dublin.

Five fire units were called to the fire at the site near Donabate in north Dublin about 9.30pm on Tuesday.

A man and woman were injured from the fire and it is understood they were taken to Beaumont Hospital for treatment.

In two separate incidences, two other people were also taken to hospital after fires broke out overnight.

Emergency services were called to a house in Woodford Grove in Clondalkin after midnight. One person was taken to hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation.

In Raheny, north Dublin, emergency services were alerted to a fire on Maryville Rd about 4am and one person was taken to hospital for treatment for smoke inhalation.

Gorse fire

Meanwhile in Bray Head, fire crews left the scene about 9am on Wednesday after a gorse fire that lasted almost 19 hours ended. It was the second gorse fire to break out in the area in the last week.

A Garda spokesman said the Bray cliff walk to Greystones was no longer closed.

Gardaí had closed off the upper and lower cliff walks to prevent access on Tuesday, emergency services said.

The blaze broke out about 12.30pm on Tuesday, which caused traffic issues with poor visibility and smoke problems.

The fire was significant in size, however no injuries were reported and no properties were damaged.
