THE NEW Minister for Transport Energy and Communications has indicated that he will not be reversing any of the major decisions made by his predecessor. Mr Alan Dukes succeeded Mr Michael Lowry on Tuesday and faced his first Question Time in his new job yesterday. He was asked by the Fianna Fail spokesman on transport, Mr Seamus Brennan, if he had any plans to review any of his predecessor's transactions.

He said he had no intention of "unpicking" his predecessor's decisions. He recalled the late Mr Frank Cluskey once remarking to him when a difficult decision was about to be made: "You want to be sure about this, because you don't go through hell just for practice."

Addressing Mr Brennan, the Minister added: "I have no intention of going through hell just for practice. So, if the deputy thinks I am going to blaze into the Department and unpick everything that I find there, and put it all back together again in a way that pleases him, I will not do that."
