The Donegal football squad will be welcomed home after the All-Ireland final in Donegal town, ending speculation that it might be Letterkenny or Bundoran.

Donegal town Four Masters Club chairman Sean Dunnion said yesterday whether the county wins the Sam Maguire or not, the squad will be given the traditional welcome home linked to championship finals. That means the welcome will be in The Diamond in Donegal town.

The county board of the GAA confirmed this.

Mr Dunnion said: “There will be a reception for the team on Monday, September 24th, at around 8pm on The Diamond, whatever the result. The team and management deserve a great reception whether they win or not.”
