IT seems that not a week goes by but there's some design award or other open to students and sponsored by a drink company. At this stage it's all getting a little repetitive, but perhaps drink companies think that art and design students are the grooviest kind - they're wrong of course - and want to be associated with them.
This week's offering was the Budweiser Design of the Decade Award which was announced at a very lively reception in Art House in Temple Bar on Wednesday evening. There were four prizes of £2,000 each and the judges - who included ad men Mal Stevenson and Johnny Frey, artist Alice Maher and critic Medb Ruane - awarded them to Sarah Lafferty, Irene Benner-Quinn, Eva Wawrzyniak and Karla White.
