A Kildare man who admitted raping a 20 year old woman two years ago has been remanded in custody to June 20th next by the Central Criminal Court.

Defence counsel, Mr Seamus Sorahan SC (with Mr Dan Boland), said Liam Scully had a "vast amount of drink" taken on the night of the incident and gardai did not suspect him of any other crime before or since.

Scully (26), of Lipstown, Narraghmore, committed the offence at Bullhill, Calverstown, Co Kildare, on October 31st, 1994.

Mr Justice Carney ordered the preparation of reports on both Scully and the victim for the sentence hearing.
