Nayef could only manage third behind 12-1 winner King's Ironbridge on his seasonal reappearance in the Macau Jockey Club Craven Stakes at Newmarket today.

The ante-post favourite for the 2,000 Guineas and Derby failed to quicken on the slow ground and was comfortably beaten by the Richard Hannon-trained winner in the mile contest.

Trainer Marcus Tregoning only made the decision to run the colt following the first race today after rain had put his participation in doubt.
