A PUBLIC consultation on a new service for victims and survivors in the North was launched yesterday.

The proposed organisation would assess the needs of people suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. Financial assistance and therapy would be involved.

First Minister Peter Robinson said: “This consultation marks an important step on the road to providing a service that meets the needs of victims and survivors.

“The Executive is committed to establishing an exceptional service for those most affected by our past and to support that service with unprecedented levels of funding.”

Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness added: “I would call on anyone with an interest in this area to participate in this consultation. Your views and reflections on our proposals are vital to its success.” – (PA)
