Irish universities should enter research partnerships with industry and Government as a way to boost the State's educational and economic futures, according to the head of Science Foundation Ireland.

Similar links have benefited US higher education and research according to Dr William Harris, the foundation's director general who last night addressed University College Dublin faculty.

"If we have good ideas and don't capitalise on them, someone else will. If we have human talent here and don't encourage it, it will leave," Dr Harris warned.
