Services to 35,000 people with physical and sensory disabilities in the State are being threatened by insufficient Government funding, according to a pre-Budget submission launched yesterday by the Not For Profit Business Association (NFPBA).
The association, established last year to represent the collective interests of nine service providers for the disabled, including the Central Remedial Clinic in Dublin, is seeking an investment of £110 million over the next five years in services for the disabled.
The funding is essential to continue providing core services and to develop urgently required new services, said Mr Des Kenny, spokesman for NFPBA and chief executive of the National Council for the Blind of Ireland.
