President George W. Bush announced today that US Middle East envoy Mr Anthony Zinni will return to the region next week to try to break the cycle of escalating violence between Israelis and Palestinians.
"Because of our commitment to peace, I am sending General Tony Zinni back to the region next week," President Bush said in the White House Rose Garden, flanked by Vice President Mr Dick Cheney and US Secretary of State Mr Colin Powell.
