Here's a clue to the outstanding quality of Geoff Merrill Cabernet Sauvignon (outlets above, usually £14.99) in relation to its price. The 1994 vintage is currently on offer in first class on Qantas and British Airways, which suggests it has the power to impress (a) fussy passengers and (b) mean airline moneyminders. And we can enjoy the more mature 1991 (or soon the mintier 1992) for the price of a rushhour taxi from Stephen's Green to the airport!
Made entirely from grapes from Coonawarra - Australia's best Cabernet breeding ground - then aged in oak for over two years and in bottle for two more, it's a beautifully harmonious red. An impeccable treat.
