The Broadcasting Commission of Ireland has rejected two bids for a radio licence in Galway city and will hold further hearings into a bid for the Cork city licence.

Two groups, Galway City Culture FM and Galway City Flame FM representing the Foundation in Christ Ministries, applied for community interest radio licences.

The BCI deemed the two applications to be of "insufficient standard to merit further consideration".

In Cork the BCI considered the application made by Cork New Life Media Ltd. (Life FM) and has decided to call the group to an oral hearing.

The hearing will happen in the first quarter of 2005 and the proceedings will then be presented to the Commission for consideration and decision.
