The funeral took place on Belfast's Shankill Road yesterday of Robert "Basher" Bates, a member of the notorious Shankill Butchers shot last Wednesday. Bates was released from prison last year after serving 19 years for the murders of 10 of the gang's 19 victims. Police are looking for a loyalist in connection with the killing. Shops on the Shankill Road closed and people lined the streets as the hearse made its way to Roselawn Cemetery.
