NEWSPAPER reviews might be the official barometer of how good an evening at the theatre is, but a far surer guide in the Abbey theatre anyway is how long people hang around the bar area after the performance on opening night.

At the opening of Tom Kilroy's vastly entertaining version of Pirandello's Six Characters in Search of an Author this week the bar was packed with Abbey regulars including Neil Jordan, Amelia Stein, Frank McGuinness and Stephen Rea.
