Baby dies, brother critically hurt in Wexford crash

A baby girl was killed and her brother was injured when the car in which they were travelling with their parents was in collision with a lorry in Co Wexford this morning.

The girl who died was a nine-month-old baby. She was named this evening by gardaí as Katie Clarges from of Loughlinstown, Co Dublin.

Her three-year-old brother, Connell, who is in a critical condition, has been transferred from Wexford General Hospital to Beaumount Hospital in Dublin.

The children's parents, Paul and Grainne, were not seriously hurt and are in a stable condition.

The lorry driver is being treated for shock.

The crash happened at Ashfield Cross on the main Rosslare to Wexford road at 10.30 a.m.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to contact them.
